EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting

18. November 2024
EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers met this morning in Brussels to prepare the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) agenda. The ministers were joined by Georgian opposition leader Tina BOKUCHAVA, Chairperson of the United National Movement (UNM) and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova, Mihai POPSOI, from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). Ministers exchanged views on the ongoing brutal Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the urgent need for stepping up EU financial and military support ahead of the winter and due to recent Russian advances in the Donbas region – in view of the results of the presidential elections in the United States. As regards the recent elections in Georgia, the Ministers discussed with UNM’s Chairperson the grave concerns arising from the political intimidation and manipulation used by the Georgian Dream government during the electoral process. The participants elaborated on possible next steps to prevent the deprivation of Georgian people’s fundamental freedoms and their right to freely choose their future in fair elections. The Ministers discussed with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister on the interference and hybrid attacks that took place before and during the recent presidential elections and the referendum on the country’s European integration path.
